WALC Work Days

WALC need more people to become involved, so,
if you enjoy the Commons, please come along and volunteer
to be on the committee and/or join our working groups.
It doesn't take up too much time, and you would be helping to preserve
the Commons for the good of local residents and wildlife.

All our talks are in Wadsley Church Hall, Worrall Rd. S6 4BA at 7.30pm
Free refreshments, which usually include
delicious home made cake, and a cup of tea or coffee.

'Tudor Garden Styles'

An entertaining talk with artefacts passed around, pictures on screen,
and presented in character costume of the period.
Entrance fee £3.50 members, £4.00 visitors

from four years of wildlife watching
Our own local expert on wildlife issues relating to the Common
and a member of WALC.

A guided walk led by Ray Battye
looking at the mining heritage of Wadsley Common.

Ray's knowledge on this subject is second to none,
and he has published a book on this topic
which people will be able to buy.

'An Insect Safari!'

A family-friendly walk to see what insects we can
find flying, buzzing and lounging around on the
heather and grasses in the open areas of the Commons.
